Texas Governor Rick Perry Offended by Truth

Texas Governor Rick Perry is taking strong exception to a cartoon published in the Sacramento Bee. Philly.com has picked up on the AP story by Will Weissert.

The two panel cartoon shows Perry boasting about the low taxes and low regulation business policies of Texas with the phrase "Business is booming in Texas!" while the next panel shows a huge explosion.

Working Together: Building Nonpartisan Partnerships with 501(c)(3)s, 501(c)(4)s, Unions and Political Organizations

The Alliance for Social Justice will lead this seminar.

Different types of organizations are increasingly collaborating on lobbying, voter engagement, and other advocacy activities. This webinar examines the different roles of 501(c)(3)s, (4)s, unions, and political organizations, and explores the federal tax rules on how these organizations can work together. It will also examine the legal separations necessary between affiliated organizations, such as funding and fundraising constraints and permissible electoral activities.

How to debunk George W. Bush's attempts at revisionism :  Your definitive guide to the Bush cronies' talking points, and why all of them are insane

Every dog goes to heaven and every former president should get a shot at repairing his legacy, especially when it's as tattered as George W. Bush's.
With the opening of his presidential library and museum this week, observers from former Bush officials to mainstream outlets were taking a fresh, rosy look at the Bush legacy. Some offered dopey and facially ridiculous cheerleading, while others offered more compelling suggestions to return to the Bush era with an open mind.
After all, other presidents left office in a cloud only to be redeemed by history years later. read on

Ted Cruz: 'I am a very, very proud wacko bird'

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who calls himself a "proud wacko bird," told CBS News that President Barack Obama was plotting to make immigration reform fail so that Democrats could campaign on it in 2014 and 2016.

In an interview that aired on Wednesday, Cruz explained to CBS reporter Jan Crawford that Obama was playing a political game on Republicans by pushing a path to citizenship as a part of comprehensive immigration reform.  read on

The Story of Our Time
by Paul Krugman
NYTimes

Academic studies that supposedly justified austerity have lost credibility; hard-liners in the European Commission and elsewhere have softened their rhetoric. The tone of the conversation has definitely changed.

My sense, however, is that many people still don't understand what this is all about. So this seems like a good time to offer a sort of refresher on the nature of our economic woes, and why this remains a very bad time for spending cuts.
