Collette Flanagan   Founder, Mothers Against Police Brutality and 2014 Dallas Peace Center Peacemaker Of the Year

After her son was shot to death by a Dallas police officer in March 2013, Mrs. Flanagan turned her grief into anger and then into action. She founded MAPB to stop the killing of unarmed and mentally ill persons by law enforcement agencies; to change the City of Dallas deadly force policies and practices; to support families who have lost loved ones to violence; and to help restore trust between the police and the communities they are sworn to serve and protect. MAPB is now an intergenerational, multiethnic, multicultural organization with both local and national presence.

The Faith Voices on Justice speaker series takes place at Northaven United Methodist Church, 112ll Preston Road, Dallas 75230, 7:00pm. Each evening includes the presentation, Q & A, and small group networking with a focus on action.

For more information, call 214/333-7577 or email FaithVoices@ northaven.org

The series is co-sponsored by the Dallas Area Christian Progressive Alliance and the Church in Society and Education Commissions of Northaven United Methodist Church.

All events are free. Donations are always appreciated.  http://www.mothersagainstpolicebrutality.com/

THE DALLAS RAMP PROJECT -   Building Freedom for the Homebound.

In 1985, the Kiwanis Club of Richardson began building access ramps for residents of Dallas    and its suburbs. In the years since, with expanded corporate and volunteer support, The Dallas Ramp Project has built nearly 2000 ramps, at a current rate of more than 240 per year.

Our volunteers say it's the most satisfying work they have ever done; liberating people imprisoned

in their homes, unable to get out because of the front steps that most take for granted.

The Dallas Ramp Project works with the City of Dallas, social-services organizations, and hospitals to identify clients  who need a ramp. We are 100%  volunteer staffed, relying on individual donations and our corporate partners to provide the funding, building materials, and facilities for our work.

Nobody Understands Debt

Paul Krugman

Many economists, including Janet Yellen, view global economic troubles since 2008 largely as a story about "deleveraging" - a simultaneous attempt by debtors almost everywhere to reduce their liabilities. Why is deleveraging a problem? Because my spending is your income, and your spending is my income, so if everyone slashes spending at the same time, incomes go down around the world.
