The Crazies and the Con Man
Krugman NYTimes

How will the chaos that the crazies, I mean the Freedom Caucus, have wrought in the House get resolved? I have no idea. But as this column went to press, practically the whole Republican establishment was pleading with Paul Ryan, the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, to become speaker. He is, everyone says, the only man who can save the day.

Movie Night: The Hand That Feeds

Wednesday, October 14, 7 PM

CWA Hall
1408 N Washington Ave, Dallas Free
Are you ready to get energized for the struggle? Do you like good movies? Free popcorn? Lively discussion?

If so, join us this Wednesday for our JwJ Monthly meeting night to watch a great new movie. The Hand That Feeds is an inspiring story about a popular bakery café where residents of New York's Upper East Side get bagels and coffee served with a smile 24 hours a day.

But behind the scenes, undocumented immigrant workers face sub-legal wages, dangerous machinery, and abusive managers who will fire them for calling in sick. Risking deportation and the loss of their livelihood, the workers team up with a diverse crew of innovative young organizers and take the unusual step of forming their own independent union, launching themselves on a journey that will test the limits of their resolve.

In Texas It's A Crime To Be Poor

People in Texas get thrown behind bars because they can't afford their traffic tickets. That's a disaster for people who are already struggling. It's also completely against the law.
