Dallas Green Alliance launched

Go green- A PAC called the Dallas Green Alliance has officially launched, with the goal of making the Dallas City Council a greener place in 2015. According to the "about" page, the alliance includes supporters who've been leaders against city gas drilling, saving White Rock Lake from development, preserving the Great Trinity Forest and fighting the Trinity toll road. Members say that the Dallas Green Alliance will use opposition to the proposed Trinity toll road as its major litmus test in deciding which candidates to support.

Members include Hotel Belmont owner-developer Monte Anderson, White Rock Lake activists Ted and Hal Barker, Rita Beving of Clean Water Action, Jim Schermbeck of Downwinders at Risk, Raymond Crawford of Dallas Area Residents for Responsible Drilling, Zac Trahan of Texas Campaign for the Environment, and many more activists and environmentalists.

Wall Street's Revenge

Dodd-Frank Damaged in the Budget Bill

Paul Krugman

On Wall Street, 2010 was the year of "Obama rage," in which financial tycoons went ballistic over the president's suggestion that some bankers helped cause the financial crisis. They were also, of course, angry about the Dodd-Frank financial reform, which placed some limits on their wheeling and dealing.

The Masters of the Universe, it turns out, are a bunch of whiners. But they're whiners with war chests, and now they've bought themselves a Congress.

Community, Our Schools Coalition to fight Home Rule and the privatization of the DISD

Community, Our Schools Coalition to fight Home Rule and the privatization of the Dallas Independent School District; demanding raising the wage, affordable healthcare for all, transparent scheduling, full-time work, and respect on the job with OUR Walmart; helping the Workers Defense Project call on city council to pass a rest break ordinance giving construction workers in Dallas the right to a 10 minute break for every 4 hours worked. And now with the protests surrounding police brutality it is essential that we see the intersections of whose interests are being protected and whose are on the line.

So join us on Wednesday, December 17th (7 PM at 1408 N Washington Ave, Dallas) for a discussion on what direction we need to take in 2015. We can't do it alone, we need to be there for each other!
