Park Cities Central Dallas Democrats June 7th Meeting:

 

Please join us on June 7, 2014, for a presentation from citizen activist Raymond Crawford and former Dallas City Councilwoman Angela Hunt for a discussion on some of the transportation issues facing Dallas including the Trinity Toll Road and the proposed expansion of the Dallas Executive Airport.

 

In addition, we have a blockbuster lineup for the rest of the summer--mark your calendars:

 

July 5, environmental scientist, Dr. Al Armendariz, previously with the EPA, will speak on climate change and the Texas drought.

 

OnAugust 2, Rebecca Robertson, ACLU of Texas, will speak on civil liberties and privacy issues.

 

We meet from 10:30 AM-12:00 PM, 1st Saturday of the month, at the University Park Library, 8383 Preston Center Plaza, Suite 200, University Park, TX 75225. 

 

The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans  "Senior Issues in the 2015 Legislature"

President George Nolan invites you to join us for our June Dallas TARA Chapter Meeting on Wednesday, June 4 from 12:30-2 pm, at the APWU Hall, 2010 Postal Way, Dallas 75212. Our own Fernando Rojas, who is a Texas Silver Haired Legislator, will present information on "Senior Issues in the 2015 Legislature".

We will also have an update on plans for actions at the ALEC Convention at the Anatole on July 30. If you are not familiar with ALEC, please go to www.alecexposed.org and see how this group operates in secret to make laws which affect almost every aspect of our lives.

The Democratic Men's Group of Rockwall County is holding their next luncheon on Saturday, June 7th, Z's Catfish, 127 Kenway Rd. This group meets for lunch on the first Saturday of each month at various local restaurants.  

Open Carry Texas called weird by NRA ?

There is nothing more telling of the Open Carry groups in Texas than to have the National Rifle Association call them 'weird'. In this one instance, I agree with the NRA and I'll probably never be able to say that again.

Circulating Petitions Supporting the New EPA Carbon Pollution Standards

 

Date: Tuesday, June 3rd

Time: 10:00 am to noon

Place: El Centro Community College, 801 Main Street, Dallas 75202

 

What:   We will pass around petitions asking students to sign in support of the new EPA standards on carbon pollution from existing power plants. I will supply all materials. You will supply time and enthusiasm. We will meet just inside the main entrance to El Centro in an area where students gather to dine, study, and socialize. El Centro is downtown at 801 Main Street on the NW corner of the intersection of Main and Market. Metered parking is available on most streets in the area. This location is also convenient to DART rail and bus service.

Water Conservation June 6th Dallas

City of Dallas Water & Dallas County Master Gardeners are teaming up to demonstrate the beauty of Water-Wise and EarthKind™ gardening with the 20th annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour.

Dallas County Master Gardeners will be conducting free 30-minute talks on Water-Wise gardening every hour on the hour at each of the tour headquarters. Dallas County Master Gardener volunteers will also be assisting homeowners and helping answer questions about the plants and landscapes on the tour.

The first 100 visitors at each of the three tour headquarters, June 7th, will receive a free hose spray nozzle. For more information, visit SaveDallasWater.com or call the Water Conservation Hotline at (214) 670-3155 Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
