Keystone XL vigil TONIGHT!

Stop by after work if you can !

The Final Supplementary Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS) for the Northern Segment of Keystone XL came out Friday afternoon. The pipeline is not approved--- this is our way to show the President/Canada/TransCanada that WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN and we will stand with our neighbors in Nebraska to the Canadian border to oppose its approval even though the southern segment is built here/running in Texas.

With the release of the State Department's final environmental impact statement, this is a crucial moment to protest Keystone XL. Join us Monday evening to send the message to President Obama that Keystone XL fails his climate test and he must reject it.

Join with North Texas Green Vote and HUUC Environmental Justice Task Force at the Grand Plaza in Klyde Warren Park in solidarity with 350.org and the Sierra Club in similar protest vigils all across America.

Ted Cruz Runs Against His Own Government Shutdown

The senator boldly claims he "didn't try to shut down the government," despite strategizing to do just that. Having satisfied the lunatic right, he's trying to move back to the middle for 2016.

Sunday, on CBS' Face the Nation, the junior senator from the State of Oblivion said-and I'm not making this up-"I didn't threaten to shut down the government the last time. I don't think we should ever shut down the government. I repeatedly voted... to fund the federal government."

These Texas politicians are trying to reform the state's marijuana laws

Two Texas lawmakers have tried to reform the state's draconian marijuana laws for years, but their efforts have come up against a stubborn legislature that they say fears being seen as soft on crime. But now, with changing public opinion on marijuana, there may be a glimmer of hope for success.

Delusions of Failure

Paul Krugman

The Republican response to the State of the Union was delivered by Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Republican representative from Washington - and it was remarkable for its lack of content. A bit of uplifting personal biography, a check list of good things her party wants to happen with no hint of how it plans to make them happen.

The closest she came to substance was when she described a constituent, "Bette in Spokane," who supposedly faced a $700-a-month premium hike after her policy was canceled. "This law is not working," intoned Ms. McMorris Rodgers. And right there we see a perfect illustration of just how Republicans are trying to deceive voters - and are, in the process, deceiving themselves.
