With the tough economy of these past couple of years, we've had very low $ fundraisers but we've soldiered on keeping folks informed about events and news especially for progressive North Texans. NO ONE does what we do ! Sure you can get on a Democratic club email list or Facebook but that will only tell you about events happening in that one designated area, I will tell you about ALL local events - happy hours near work or events happening by friends and family on the weekends, that you are welcome to attend. Do you want to have to subscribe to 10 email lists and read every one of them ? Just let me aggregate it all for you! I also DO NOT limit news to only Democrats-- we use "Progressive " and we mean it. We bring you news from many independent groups, as well as important protests or actions not connected to electoral politics but of great social, environmental and/or economic good. Many of our members date back to original email group that were connected to Progressive radio of the past - both the past local radio attempts and Air America Radio. This groups originals lie in promoting those important alternative news sources. We've seen great changes since 2004 when Air America signed on the but the need is even great for alternatives to the crappy mainstream news ! Yes --we will celebrate our 10th anniversary this year! Amazing! There are still such few ways to get out progressive news and information and I do everything I can to include all local events in the free weekly newsletter and then follow up on events with some pictures or report on how the events went. I also work to promote local events on Facebook and Twitter . This year will be big for our country and Texas .... we will be very busy fighting for Wendy Davis running against all odds to become the next Texas Governor and help turn this state around! The mid-term national elections will decide what real progress President Obama can make with the Democrats in Congress in advancing his agenda in his last 2 years of his presidency This newsletter will be out there doing everything we can for North Texas Democrats & Progressives to get them ready, get them informed, get them mobilized and get them inspired !
