Many of the local Democratic clubs helped organize phone banks and rides to Austin.

There is also a rally in Denton at the square tonight at 6pm to stand for solidarity with those in Austin. There will be thousands of women and men representing us who can't make it down there. Please check out dentondemocrats.orghd65democrats.com and our many facebook groups for more information.

Happy 4th of July celebrate with H-E-B Democrats

Just a quick reminder to all H-E-B Dems and friends that we will be heading out to the fireworks celebration in Hurst as a group. We will be there starting at 7pm. This will be a great way to let the Mid-Cities know that Democrats are here and hopefully, get more people involved in turning our corner of Tarrant County BLUE. Below is a map of our gathering area:

Pack a small cooler, grab a lawn chair and cooler, and wear your favorite DEMOCRATIC t shirt. A map and the official city event flyer are below, as well as a link to our Facebook event so you can let everyone know that you're coming. Officially, we can't "distribute" materials, but we sure can give them our info if we're approached and asked!

If you have any questions, please reply to this email, but here are a few answers:

* Handicapped parking is in the Willow St. entrance parking lot - get there early as this fills up early

* Safe and well lit parking is available via city-paid shuttle bus service starting at Dick's Sporting Goods at NE Mall

* In the past, the Pipeline businesses have let people park and walk, but technically it is private property; look for no-parking signs before using these lots

* Regular restrooms are available in addition to portables

* Plenty of food and drinks are available for purchase; including gourmet food trucks

* Bring your mosquito repellant; it's West Nile season

* The fireworks start around 9:30pm

Here are the links you'll need - PLEASE RSVP ON FACEBOOK!

Wendy Davis: From Fort Worth neighborhood leader to international media sensation

Sen. Wendy Davis was being showered with national and international media attention Wednesday in the wake of her filibuster that led to the defeat of a bill that would have shut down most of the abortion clinics in the state.

She continued to be a social media sensation with soaring numbers of Twitter followers - topping 93,000 as of 9 p.m. Wednesday, up from 1,200 the day before the filibuster. She appeared on CNN and was bombarded with other media interview requests. Texas Monthly declared her to be potentially the most powerful Texas Democrat since Ann Richards.

Battleground Texas - join today

Texas is at a crossroads. The Lone Star State is changing - and with its size and diversity, our state should be a place where all elections - from local elections all the way up to the President of United States are hotly contested.

To do that, we need Texans in every corner of the state - from Amarillo to Brownsville and El Paso to Beaumont - to stand up and say that they're tired of not being heard, tired of not being represented in Austin and in Washington, DC, and tired of the same Republican playbook which is failing our communities and ignoring the needs of countless Texans.

Change will take time - but together we can make Texas a part of the national discussion.

Grassroots voices are changing this country on a scale that was unheard of just a few years ago.

Over the next several years, Battleground Texas will focus on expanding the electorate by registering more voters - and, as importantly, mobilizing those Texans who are already registered but who have not been engaged in the democratic process. And we'll use the data-driven, people-focused approach that has helped win grassroots campaigns around the country.

From top to bottom of the ballot - we can change the face of Texas politics together.

Battleground Texas is a local effort with national implications.

Texas Abortion Law: Why You Shouldn't Mess With Texas Women

Something is happening in Texas. While the Republican-dominated legislature tries to undemocratically ram through an unpopular omnibus anti-choice bill during a special session, abortion rights activists have taken their anger and organized it into an occupying force that has upended the narrative of anti-choice complacency in red states. For the last week, these activists have been protesting, organizing, and occupying, and they have revealed that passionate and committed feminist and progressive activists are everywhere, even in deeply red states.

Lone Star Project : Thanks Wendy

Please join me in thanking Senator Wendy Davis for her courageous stand against the Republican attack on Texas women and families. Tonight, Senator Davis stood for 13 hours mounting a filibuster to block an outrageous attack on the health of Texas women and their families. As this letter goes out, the battle continues. Wendy's courage stands in stark contrast to the cowardice of Texas leaders. The threat she provides to their failed leadership makes her a target.

Let's not only thank Wendy Davis, let's help her.

Here's how you can thank and help Senator Wendy Davis:
