"The President said he looked forward to congratulating the team in person at the White House," said a White House statement.

We suspect the president enjoyed the Mavs' win over Miami -- after all, the Heat had knocked out his beloved Chicago Bulls in the previous round of the playoffs

Can Keith Olbermann Win A War With MSNBC?

It was always an obvious rea lity that Keith Olbermann's Current TV show would experience some degree of crossover with MSNBC's prime-time programming, but any hope of a peaceful rivalry has evaporated, as Olbermann has made it clear he intends to go after his former employer's audience by going after his former employer. The fact that Olbermann has opted to "go negative" so early (his show hasn't even premiered yet) portends a bloody battle for the hearts and minds of liberal viewers.

Defense vs Offense:Final Thoughts: Al Franken kicked off the last day of Netroots Nation, reminding us that while we should be proud of the work we have done, we need to take the conversation back from the right. Conservatives' plans are so radical, Franken said, that they might as well rip stars off the American flag. "We as a progressive movement are losing the argument on issue after issue. We are playing defense." By putting forth an agenda that encompasses all members of our community and is true to our values, we can win.

 Rebuilding the American Dream:

Today, Van Jones laid out an inspiring vision for rebuilding the American Dream-and a renewed movement. He ended by calling on Glenn Beck to stop talking at progressives and start talking to us: "These are our values; don't you mess with our values. Don't you tell us that we don't love our own country. You don't know this country. We work in neighborhoods you won't even go to. Fighting for liberty and justice for all."

"When we can't walk with the President we have to walk ahead of him," Rep. Keith Ellison.

Janeane Garofalo as "Katherine Harris" discusses Michele Bachmann's run for the White House

Way too much fun, and way too smart. Sam Seder playing straight man (think George Burns) to Janeane Garofalo's version of "Katherine Harris," the former Palin-Bachmann look-alike and failed senatorial candidate from Florida.

In this edition, "Katherine Harris" is now on board the Bachmann Express. It's delightful. Enjoy!

Texas Is a Shining Example of Right-Wing Governance in Action and That's Why It's a Complete Basket-Case

Conservatives claim the "Texas Miracle" is a model for the nation, but it's actually a blueprint for winning the race to the bottom.

Conservative mythology now holds up Texas as a shining example of right-wing governance in action. Republicans would have us believe that gutting the state's social safety net, denying workers the right to bargain collectively and relentlessly cutting taxes unleashed a torrent of "job creation" and, ultimately, prosperity.
