Stand Up tp ALEC ( right here in Dallas) |
The American Legislative Exchange Council-ALEC is planning their annual meeting in Dallas, Wednesday, July 30-Friday, August 1; and we are planning a showdown. ALEC has been carrying out its agenda for 40 years. Some of the results of their corporate-driven agenda are: Voter ID laws; attacks on and privatizations of our public education system; surreptitious establishment of a private prison system-and the school-to-prison pipeline; and most notoriously, Stand Your Ground Laws. A coalition of activists has planned teach-ins and actions around ALEC's meetings at the Hilton Anatole hotel downtown Dallas.
