Texas' law allows seven forms of acceptable identification for voters - the list includes concealed handgun licenses, but excludes college student IDs, which are accepted in other states with similar voting restrictions, the Associated Press reported. | This Age of Derp by Paul Krugman New York Times blog | I gather that some readers were puzzled by my use of the term "derp" with regard to peddlers of inflation paranoia, even though I've used it quite a lot. National Day of Resistance Against Police Brutality and Mass Incarceration on October 22, 2014. | Mothers Against Police Brutality, DCOC, ACLU, BORD (Bill of Rights Defense), CodePink , Indigenous Liberation Party and other coalition partners will join the National Day of Resistance Against Police Brutality and Mass Incarceration on October 22, 2014. In 2013, police officers murdered 1,414 people (not all shooting deaths were recorded.) Every 28 hours, a Black man is killed by a law enforcement agent. In the month of August, Dallas had 6 people in 17 days shot by the Dallas Police. In Los Angeles, a police officer kills a citizen at least once a week. As of 9/20/2014, we know that 1,541 people have been killed by the police in this country. Police brutality isn't a Black or Brown issue; it's a Human Rights issue Come Rally and March with us on October 22nd, make a stand against police brutality. In the words of our founder, Collette Flanagan, "It is time to show the world what police brutality really looks like, it is time to show the world what images Mothers are left to see when they identify the bodies of their children killed by policemen that were trained to take lives and certainly feel they have the authority to do so at their discretion. It is time for the world to see this dirty secret." Main Street Garden at 7:00p.m., and march to proceed to Victory Plaza at 7:30p.m. more info here
