Atlanta-based former 'Air America' operator now running 'Progressive Voices' |
Atlanta resident Jon Sinton is an unabashed progressive voice who ran Air America in the mid-2000s and is now providing a similar venue in app form called "Progressive Voices." | Defining Prosperity Down by Paul Krugman NY Times |
Friday's employment report wasn't bad. But given how depressed our economy remains, we really should be adding more than 300,000 jobs a month, not fewer than 200,000. As the Economic Policy Institute points out, we would need more than five years of job growth at this rate to get back to the level of unemployment that prevailed before the Great Recession. Full recovery still looks a very long way off. And I'm beginning to worry that it may never happen.
Ask yourself the hard question: What, exactly, will bring us back to full employment?

The 10 Most Dangerous Places to be a Woman in America | From Texas to North Dakota, lawmakers are threatening the lives of women across the United States. A 2011 law banning the "off-label" use of abortion-inducing drugs was blocked by a legal challenge, but is currently up for review by the Oklahoma Supreme Court, as the Los Angeles Times reports: "At issue ultimately is the meaning of the high court's 1992 decision in Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, which upheld a woman's right to choose abortion, but said states may regulate the practice, so long as they do not put an 'undue burden' on the patients or their doctors." read on
